Catalysts and Catalytic Reactions for Organic Synthesis - CCROS

Our group is part of the International Research Training Group "Catalysts and Catalytic Reactions for Organic Synthesis", which brings together five research groups from the Institute of Organic Chemistry and Biochemistry at the University of Freiburg and three research groups from the Department of Chemistry at the University of Basel. The program is supported by the Swiss National Science Foundation (SNF) and the Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG).

The educational program for PhD students and postdocs offers workshops and joint seminars as well as short courses by leading experts in the field. The inclusion of industrial experts will ensure practice relevance and demonstrate the importance of catalysts and catalytic reactions in the chemical and pharmaceutical industry. Collaborative research projects and student exchange between the participating groups will allow extensive training in various areas of catalysis, organic synthesis and analytical methods. The research program covers important areas of catalytic organic synthesis, such as development of new catalysts and reactions, catalyst separation in biphasic systems, enzyme mimics, mechanistic studies, combinatorial approaches, and total synthesis of biologically relevant target molecules.

The CCROS offers fellowships at the PhD student level.
